To ensure that we only have a maximum of six learners at any one time and minimise the need for travel or accommodation requirements, we have introduced changes to our course structure.

Assists with compliance of the Care Certificate Standard 12 for Adult Basic Life Support developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health in accordance with UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines and in meeting with regulating / inspecting body training requirements.

This course is aligned to the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) for Adult Basic Life Support.

This course is not designed for trainers who intend to deliver training to those working with paediatric or new-born patients / services users.

Registration Times:
Registration for the practical session will start at either 09:00 or 13:30 depending on the times allocated. The session will commence at 09:15 or 13:45. There will be a break during the session which will finish at approximately 12:30 or 17:00. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the session

Key Facts

On successful completion, Registered Trainers will receive an Accredited Level 3 Certificate and Learning Outcomes Summary to authorise them to use the Trainer Pack with two years of on-going trainer support to enable them to train learners confidently. Registered Trainers will be able to provide both in-house and external training to their learners.

Registered Trainers will be able to produce unlimited certificates for 2 years and deliver a course and certificate their learners at Level 1 and Level 2.

There are no on-going costs as a Registered Trainer, you are able to self-print certificates, workbooks and handouts, etc

Entry Requirements - Full Criteria

This course is available to Trainer Courses Ltd Registered Trainers who have completed our People Movers Moving & Handling Trainer / Assessor Course and been awarded an Accredited Level 3 Certificate or to those who hold certification where they have already been assessed with regard to their trainer / presentation skills, i.e. Trainer Certificate, First Aid Instructor Certificate, AET, PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS Certificate, Cert Ed, etc. or a Registered Nurse who can provide evidence of their current NMC Pin Number. We accept e-Certificates from recognised awarding / accreditation bodies regarding a learner’s formal assessment of trainer / presentation skills.

Level 1 Course Summary

What the course authorises the trainer to train their learners in at Level 1:

  • Knowing what action should be taken in the event of an emergency
    occurring at work
  • Has been shown cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods
  • Has been shown how to deal with an unconscious casualty
  • Has been shown how to use an AED correctly
  • Knowing the correct actions to take with regard to control of wounds and bleeding
  • Knowing the action to take on a range of other first aid situations
  • Knowing how first aid stocks should be maintained and the contents of boxes

Level 2 Course Summary

What the course authorises the trainer to train their learners in at Level 2:

  • Knowing what action should be taken in the event of an emergency occurring at work
  • Has been taught and practised cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods
  • Has been taught and practised dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • Has been taught and practised with regard to correct AED use
  • Knowing the correct actions to take with regard to control of wounds and bleeding
